Tussie Artesanos Ópticos is a small eyewear shop in a historic house in Polanco, Mexico City. The house and its facades could not be altered because of its landmark status. The project had limited means for design development and material use, so the design had to be simple but direct conceptually.

As it is a retail venue, we privileged consumer experience when visiting the store. The room’s interior architecture remained untouched where only the flooring was replaced. The walls and a street-front window were hidden behind a translucent curtain conveying a sense of spatial blurriness and vagueness of what is behind the curtain. The spectacles are in the middle of the room enclosed by this translucent curtain. For the consumer, the spectacles appear like the only tangible objects in the room besides the furniture.
