Campestre is a private residence located in San Angel Inn, in southern Mexico City. It has around 325 m2 of construction distributed between two levels. The house’s plot has a rectangular proportion and its dimensions are 11 m wide per 33 m long. Its rectangular proportion guided the house’s design. We distributed the built area around two patios which also divide public from private rooms. The final built area only represents a third part of the entirety of the land.
We sought to build a house that could be inhabited in the first level alone being it a prerequisite. All of the main spaces were kept on the ground floor. In a T-shaped floor plan, public spaces encircle the first patio. Hall, living-room, dining-room and kitchen constitute the first part of the construction, while private spaces, such as the master bedroom, are at the back in the second section of the house. In the upper level, we set the areas that were to be inhabited occasionally by visitors.
